Hi Moms! I am starting a new feature on the site called "Meet Our Moms!" Everyone comes to the site and posts and we all learn a bit about each other through the posts, but I thought that this would be a great way to introduce our moms individually.

On MomsLikeMe.com we have a few Featured Members who help drive the conversation on the site and make sure we always have fun and interesting stuff to talk about. Their roles are "discussion leaders," but they're moms and members of the site just like you and me!

I'm going to start off the "Meet Our Moms" feature by introducing each of our Featured Members to you one-by-one. I would love to introduce you too, so if you're interested just send me a private message (pm) and title it "Feature Me!"

Our first Featured Member is JanineN. Here's our quick Q&A with her. If you have any questions you'd like to ask her, please leave them below!

1)      How many kids do you have? 2 they are twins

2)      How old are your children? just turned 6 at Disney World on May 21st!

3)      What is your favorite activity to do with your kid(s)? it depends on the time of year. We love going to the library when it's really hot or cold outside. The girls love books and were early readers so it's the perfect place to hang out - especially since the newer libraries in Germantown and Rockville are so light and bright and inviting.

Otherwise we like to be outside at a park, or swimming in the pool in the summer and of course a trip to the beach. Hanging out playing in the sand is so much fun with kids.

4)      Where is your favorite place to go without your kid(s)? Away for a girls weekend with my college buddies. Is that sad? I love my husband but I love to truly get away LOL!

5)      What is the best thing about being a mom? The unconditional love you give and get. The chance to see things and appreciate things through the eyes of a child. And getting really tight sqeezes from 2 little arms. Oh, and cuddling.....I could go on all day!

6)      What is your least favorite activity to do involving your kid(s)? Grocery shopping. I know I'm not alone in this one!

7)      Who in your life had the most influence on you as you were growing up? hmm - I was always a free spirit and independent. I'm not sure anyone had 'influence' over me LOL. But I was very close with my family and even as a teenager had a great respect for my parents. They let me screw up but something kept me from crossing the line too far. The provided a good mix of love, guiadance, and boundaries. I only hope I can do the same.

8)      What is the best advice you have ever received about being a mom? "This too shall pass" and, to let kids make mistakes, and get hurt. It's the only way to learn. (side note - the Greatest parenting book ever is "The Blessings of a Skinned Knee". I'm not Jewish but the lessons in there have really opened my eyes up to a whole new way of raising kids. The fact that the lessons were being taught 1000s of years ago in the Jewish religion is besides the fact...they work!)

9)      As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Famous. I didn't take acting classes or even participate in drama clubs, but I really think I wanted to be this successful, powerful person. I felt bigger than what I was.

10) Now that you’re grown up, what are you doing? I have several part-time jobs that all tap into my marketing background.

I work for a fabulous marketing freelance team called Idea-Ware (www.idea-ware.com) that also happens to be run by my brother! We work with very unique clients to develop websites, SEO (search engine optimization) campaigns, flash presentations, and even packaging and printed collateral. Very cool stuff and very fun.

I also maintain 2 blogs: one which is a personal blog about being a mom with twins and general things that I like (www.twoferthepriceofone.blogspot.com) and the other which is primarily a place for product reviews and giveaways (www.twoferthumbsup.blogspot.com).

I am the editor of the twins/multiples section of TypeAMom.net

PS -I LOVE any and all comments people want to leave for me at any of these sites!

And finally, I'm partnering with a friend to launch a third blog in the next few weeks. This will be a very cool site that includes behind the scenes looks at different people, events, places, and even brands. Stay tuned!

That third blog sounds very interesting. Can you make sure to bring our (or at least my) attention to it? Thanks!

Janine, this was really interesting.  It is always interesting to hear how a mom gets to where she is.  I could tell you were creative, but your job with your brother's company is extremely interesting - I bet it is challenging sometimes.

You should also mention that there is a link to your blog on WashingtonFAMILY.com.  We are very proud to have you on our Mom Blog team.

I will look forward to hearing about your new project.

Your little ones will have nothing but respect for you, you had a very fair childhood (parents allowing you to mess up), some are silver spooned, or don't care, but when you hear about parents that give their loved ones the learn by error or by teachers concept, it makes me as a parent that does the same, a good feeling.
